![]() ![]() We discuss this in more detail later in the article. Although these safeguards are intended to be lifted in the near-to-mid term, the network recently suffered an exploit that halted activity on the network. This guarded approach puts a cap on liquidity pools to ensure that the impact of any bug or hack is minimized. The network is designed in a way that puts safeguards in place until the network has proven to be safe and secure. Also, THORChain’s multichain chaosnet is secured and operated by nodes that underwrite pooled liquidity for THORChain’s liquidity sensitive automated market maker (AMM). The goal is to facilitate trustless, permissionless, and non-custodial cross-chain asset swaps without the use of pegged assets. THORChain’s multichain chaosnet has been under development for the past three years. It is used to incentivize liquidity providers and helps to ameliorate liquidity shortages. The THORChain Continuous Liquidity Pool (CLP) is at the heart of the THORChain crypto ecosystem. Each pool is tied to the THORChain RUNE token in a separate vault. THORChain liquidity providers can deposit funds into several pools. As such, liquidity providers are required to pay network fees and variable slippage fees using the native RUNE token. THORChain promotes cross-chain interoperability between the various liquidity pools and automated market maker (AMM) protocols throughout the THORChian crypto ecosystem. At the time of writing, the THORChain RUNE token is trading at $4.36, with a market cap of around $1.2 billion and a circulating supply of 271 million tokens out of a maximum supply of 500 million according to CoinGecko. This includes Uniswap, Binance, and the BEPSwap exchange. The RUNE token is available on several crypto exchanges. ![]() However, the RUNE token is required to signal on-chain priority for transaction confirmations and is used to incentivize participants by subsidizing gas and paying out rewards. Although, nodes that stake the RUNE token can determine the future direction of the protocol. The THORChain RUNE token does not serve directly as a governance token for the THORChain ecosystem. Traders using THORChain benefit from high levels of interoperability between multiple blockchains without friction. Unlike other liquidity protocols, THORChain does not use chain-specific pegged assets or custodial wrapping services. THORChain is a decentralized, interoperable blockchain and liquidity network that facilitates non-custodial, autonomous cross-chain token swaps. ![]() ![]() Definitely invest in some type of battery monitor so you can see what is going in and out and be secure in what power you have. Do not start you van and leave it idle in order to simply charge your battery. I read that lithiums at near 20% depth of discharge could suck up the entire 190 amps so you may want to be sure you buy the correct size isolator and be sure you have it fused correctly as well.Įither way an isolator is nice to have and that is all we have ever used. It could be 4 amps it could be 20 but it’s certainly not 190 or the max 150 or your isolator. This could be totally wrong but I feel it is capable of putting that many amps back in over the course of an hour. Basically your alternator is capable of putting out that many amps. In that scenario, the freezer freezes gallon jugs for my ice chest, so I can stay out for about 5 weeks. If I need to add a freezer for a longer outing, I add a regular ice chest and $5.00 worth of dry ice, which last nearly a month. ![]() I keep the ice in a separate container beside my food, so my food always stays dry. I go shopping once a week anyway, so picking up ice isn’t even out of my way. I usually get a big block for 99¢ and that lasts for a little over a week in the summer and even longer in the winter. In a typical year I spend maybe $50-$60 on ice. A TOTAL RIP OFF! CHEAP CHINESE JUNK SOLD AT HIGH PRICES! The 3-way and the dorm fridges were okay, the 12v compressor fridges sucked and cost me a fortune to buy, then even more in lost food, when they died sometimes within a year, and repair + shipping cost more than a new one even if they were still under warranty. In the past I’ve had just about every type fridge out there. Not any more, I switched back to a cheap, efficient, convenient, and reliable, non-powered, upright, front opening, portable ice chest. Being prepared has it’s rewards… I try to keep at least a months worth of canned food on board at all times, including canned or smoked meats that don’t need refrigeration, then I always use the oldest, and replace them with newer when I go shopping. I have been totally snowed in for several weeks at a time, and was stranded for nearly a month when a bridge got washed out. Combined with the option of my generator, I feel pretty prepared. I have lights, heat, cooking, and refrigeration that are totally independent of my vans power system. I also recommend that everybody should be set up to survive without any power. Depending on Mother Nature can be extremely problematic. I have a $99 gas inverter generator and a $29 battery charger for a backup plan instead of solar, and even with solar, I wouldn’t be caught dead without my generator. My last one lasted over 7 years, with isolator charging only and no solar.įor 300ah of batteries, 600 watts of solar would be an absolute minimum because short winter days, or cloudy/rainy/snowy days severely limit the effectiveness of solar. If your expected usage is accurate, I would suggest 300ah of lead acid deep cycle batteries. In comparison, I use 40-50ah per WEEK.Īn isolator needs to have a high enough capacity to cover your alternators output, but in the end, it’s your alternator that determines the charging capacity, not the isolator. ![]() ![]() ![]() My car has dropped from 100.kb to just 1.kb. King Dedede growing King Kong arms was just the beginning of the crazy stuff that happens in this game, leading to creative situations all throughout the 8-10-hour ride. I feel like this might be needed to grab the attention of those who are sick of this formula.Īll being said, Kirby Star Allies is still a lot of fun to play if you are still a fan of the formula or has never played a Kirby game in their life. The combat is a little more fleshed out and you can use allies to combine abilities, but a lot of these elements are a mixture of things seen previously in earlier entries of Kirby games, which is fine considering Nintendo loves throwing in nostalgia for their classic franchises, but there’s not something that’s completely innovative to games or Kirby games, just a collective expansion on previously explored ideas.Īt the climax, which takes a 3D Star Fox-ish boss encounter, I was thinking to myself, why hasn’t Nintendo tried a fully 3D Kirby game? It’s worked for Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokémon, Donkey Kong, even Kid Icarus came back 20 years later in his own fully-3D game and it worked out for him. You go from level to level, either eating or beating up adorable creatures, floating to different platforms and solving easy challenges, ending with either a special door or a fun boss battle. There are new powers, boss fights that take advantage of multiple party members and every level throws something completely bonkers or interesting at you, but at the end of the day, it’s still a Kirby game that plays like a Kirby game. However, if you are sick of Kirby’s same adventure-platformer formula and hope the “Star Allies” would dramatically change Kirby like with Super Mario Odyssey & Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, you will be disappointed. Knowing that I am mostly a solo reviewer with no one locally to aid in reviews, I cannot comment on the local multiplayer, but I was pleased to know how much fun a Kirby game is, years later. My only issue with the Star Allies only comes from sometimes not following a dodge or jump as fast as you, creating moments where my buddies were taken out by not very challenging platforming obstacles. The friendly A.I. are mostly intelligent, reacting each situation with their given talents, either beating up foes or like for example, a snow or water-type buddy will immediately put out a fire that’s in the way of an alternative path. Each character has their own abilities that they’ll efficiently use when there are enemies or things to activate. Your allies can even be some of the early bosses after you defeat them. What we call “Star Allies” is basically a four-player co-op system that can either happen with local play or from just NPCs. This time though, Kirby can also toss a heart towards an enemy that possesses a specific ability, turning them into buddies. What eating things would do in a gameplay regard depends on what enemy you’ve eaten, each containing a set of attacks along with exploration challenges that require a specific power. This was never a game series bent on story-telling and Star Allies is no different in that regard. Somebody wants to take over the world for some reason and thus, taking Kirby on a wild, colorful ride across a diverse set of locations. Why is he doing all this or are there consequences behind eating other critters? The simple answer is don’t ask, don’t tell. ![]() If you somehow don’t know what a Kirby game is like, picture a 2D adventure-styled platformer with a character that can devour almost any enemy, so he can use their powers. Being the successful platform that the Nintendo Switch has become, it’ll only make sense for the big N to celebrate by developing new entries to their classic library of wonderful franchises, while make new ones at the same time.Ĭan Kirby Star Allies be the next amazing Nintendo Switch Exclusive? ![]() ![]() I grew up with several classic video game characters from both Sony & Nintendo, including the adorable cannibal we come to know as Kirby. ![]() ![]() ![]() Not to mention most big rooms featured some sort of alternate path for those looking for one.Īll in all, I gotta say Last Light felt a lot better for me, but I'd imagine there are those that prefer 2033. Pavel, the Child, Kahn, and even Anna all seemed more fully realized than anyone in the first game. Last Light just felt like it had a bit more personality and character depth as well. Seeing Artyom redeem himself and save so many before the end made me feel some genuine emotions I wasn't expecting. I got what I suppose you could call the "bad ending" but even that was pretty satisfying to me. Last Light felt like a much more personal drama for Artyom compared to 2033's rather apersonal mystery of "The fuck is up with the Dark Ones?" In Last Light, for me, the betrayals hit harder, the stakes felt higher, and the victories big and small felt much more meaningful. I know it may sound silly, because 2033 is based on an actual book and Last Light's plot was fabricated, but I thought the sequel told a decidedly better tale than the former. Last Light certainly made a few concessions in the name of accessibility, and was overall a much easier game, but I think it kept the soul of Metro and a lot of the same heart, while improving the pacing, set pieces, stealth, and even the story. And the stupid stupid section near the end where you have to slowly follow the guy and protect him while being attacked by all the bubbles soundly trounces and monster closet or boss fight in Last Light in terms of frustration. The stealth and reliance on throwing knives, coupled with AI where every enemy instantly knew where you were the second you messed up made the sneaking a pain. But it sure as hell had some rough edges. 2033 was such a fantastic, refreshing experience and it was one off the first really immersive FPSs I'd played since Half Life 2. I beat 2033 a few years ago and am currently replaying it, and I beat Last Light a couple of days ago on Ranger mode (not Ranger Hardcore, I need some kind of UI for use prompts and QTE's). ![]() ![]() Apple has also doubled the amount of content one can burn to a DVD from one to two hours.
